POSITION SUMMARY

The Category Manager – Lighting Controls is the business owner of the company’s lighting controls portfolio in the Canadian commercial market. This role has full responsibility for category strategy, financial performance, roadmap execution, and market success to ensure profitable growth and competitive differentiation of the portfolio.

The Category Manager leads a dedicated product team and works closely with engineering, project management, sales, marketing, operations, quality, and technology partners to successfully develop, launch, and grow innovative controls solutions across Canada.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

CATEGORY STRATEGY AND PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT

  • Define and lead the category strategy for the Lighting Controls business to support portfolio growth, profitability, and competitive positioning.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive portfolio roadmap covering sensors, control systems, software platforms, emergency lighting controls, smart building adoption, energy efficiency requirements and any other connected solutions.
  • Analyze growth opportunities aligned with market trends, competitive offerings, emerging technologies, and customer requirements to guide investment decisions, pricing direction, and targeted segments.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, COMMERCIAL POSITIONING, AND LAUNCH EXCELLENCE

  • Drive portfolio growth and profitability by leading product development initiatives, lifecycle management, and offer optimization.
  • Collaborate with technology partners, engineering, project, sales, and marketing teams to deliver successful launches and strong market positioning.
  • Define go-to-market strategies for new controls products and systems, support sales tools, and monitor launch performance to ensure business objectives are achieved.

TEAM LEADER SHIP

  • Coach, engage, and develop the product management team while ensuring clear alignment on category priorities and objectives.
  • Support the team in executing day-to-day activities, business cases, product launches and portfolio initiatives.
  • Promote a market-driven, performance-oriented, and cross-functional collaborative approach.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in product, category, or segment management, ideally in lighting, controls, building systems, electrical distribution or energy management systems.
  • Experience leading teams and supporting performance development.
  • Strong understanding of controls technologies including, o ccupancy and daylight sensors , w ireless and wired control systems , DALI , Bluetooth Mes, Networked lighting and Emergency lighting controls , Cloud and software platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong proficiency with computer tools, including the MS Office suite.
  • Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written.
  • Good knowledge of the lighting industry; knowledge of Net Suite is considered an asset.
  • Availability for occasional travel within Canada.
