What Your Job Will Be Like:
Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a Business & Competitive Intelligence Professional to support licensing, technology transfer, partnership development, and strategic business decisions across Sandia's mission and research portfolio.
This role will provide actionable intelligence and analysis to help evaluate current and prospective licensees, partners, sponsors, and market opportunities; inform contracting and partnership decisions; and support the deployment of Sandia intellectual property and capabilities into external applications.
What your day will look like:
+ Develop analyses and present research results on markets, customers, sponsors, licensees, partners, competitors, technology sectors, and comparative trends.
+ Support Sandia's licensing and partnership activities by identifying, researching, and evaluating external organizations that may be candidates for licensing, collaboration, commercialization, or strategic engagement.
+ Prepare business, market, and partner analyses to support contracting-office decisions, partnership evaluations, and technology transfer activities.
+ Provide research and analytical products that help inform agreement strategy, opportunity prioritization, partner suitability, commercialization potential, and risk mitigation considerations.
+ Work with leadership and stakeholders to identify gaps, define potential opportunities, and anticipate changes in markets, technology sectors, sponsor priorities, and partnership landscapes.
+ Develop and provides accurate and timely intelligence on R&D environments, including key trends and strategic drivers; future directions; funding profiles; competitor and peer-laboratory activities; technology adoption trends; and external organizations
¿ R&D, investment, and partnering strategies.
+ Supports external opportunity identification and evaluation for technologies, capabilities, and intellectual property assets with potential for licensing, commercialization, or partnership development.
+ Conduct comparative analyses, market research, and business intelligence assessments to support business development, technology transfer, and partner engagement.
+ Produce concise written reports, briefings, dashboards, and visualizations that communicate analytical findings to internal audiences.
+ Maintain awareness of relevant industry sectors, emerging technologies, investment activity, federal R&D priorities, and commercialization pathways relevant to Sandia's mission space.
The selected applicant can be a remote worker located in any U.S. State or District of Columbia. Regular or periodic travel to your assigned work location may be required.
Salary Range:
$74,700 - $144,400
* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
+ Bachelor's degree in Business, Research, Economics, National Security, Public Policy, Engineering, Science, or a relevant discipline plus two or more years of relevant experience; or Master's degree in Business or a relevant discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to work with organizational leadership, and deliver recommendations that lead to action.
+ Experience applying business intelligence, competitive intelligence, market research, due diligence, or strategic analysis methods to support decision-making.
+
Experience with qualitative (e.g. interviewing) and quantitative (e.g. statistical packages) research methods.
+ Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders, including technical teams, business development professionals, licensing staff, contracting personnel, legal or compliance partners, and leadership.
