Director, Payroll

An established, multi-state healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Director of Payroll to lead enterprise payroll operations and provide strategic oversight for payroll services supporting a large national workforce. This leadership role combines operational management with Oracle Payroll expertise, working closely with HR, Finance, and IT to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and ongoing system optimization.

· Direct enterprise payroll operations across a large, multi-state organization.

· Lead a payroll leadership team consisting of Payroll Managers and a sizeable payroll staff.

· Serve as the functional business leader for Oracle Payroll and collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT on system enhancements and optimization.

· Manage post-implementation Oracle Payroll activities, including quarterly release testing, payroll validation, issue resolution, and enhancement requests.

· Ensure payroll is processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

· Identify and implement process improvements that increase operational efficiency and strengthen payroll controls.

· Enhance payroll reporting capabilities and system functionality through cross-functional collaboration.

· Support the continued transition of payroll functions into the organization's internal operations.

· Promote continuous improvement initiatives and maintain best practices across payroll operations.

· Hybrid position based in Brentwood, Tennessee.

· Regular onsite attendance is required.

· Up to 20% travel.

· Fully remote candidates will not be considered.

· 10+ years of progressive payroll leadership experience within a large, complex enterprise.

· Extensive hands-on experience with Oracle Payroll, including Oracle Fusion Payroll and/or Oracle Payroll Cloud.

· Proven experience supporting Oracle Payroll after implementation, including:

o Quarterly release testing

o Payroll validation

o Troubleshooting

o Enhancement requests

o Ongoing system optimization

· Experience serving as the payroll business lead or subject matter expert partnering with HRIS, HR, Finance, and IT teams.

· Strong leadership experience managing payroll operations and payroll teams.

· Multi-state payroll leadership experience in an enterprise environment.

· Strong understanding of payroll compliance, payroll accounting, and operational best practices.

· Oracle Payroll implementation experience.

· Experience with in a shared services environment.

· Payroll process automation and continuous improvement experience.

· Payroll accounting and general ledger reconciliation knowledge.

· Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
