Job PurposeThe Specialist is a highly organized professional who supports the implementation, progress monitoring, and reporting of the National Indigenous Strategy (NIS) within the Corporate Development Department. In this role, the incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of various strategic initiatives, tracking project progress, and ensuring smooth operational flows. The position focuses on growing trusting partnerships with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis, while cultivating capacity and facilitating positive change across the public broadcaster.
Operating under the guidance of the Senior Advisor, the role ensures that NIS objectives are met across the organization while working independently with some guidance from management. This position exists strictly to provide project coordination support and does not participate in editorial decision-making or provide sensitive cultural advisory on specific protocols.
- Support the ongoing implementation, progress monitoring, and reporting of the National Indigenous Strategy (NIS)
- Provide coordination support for key Office projects such as the Reconciliation Fund, the Indigenous Visionaries Award, PAIR Certification, and the NIS renewal process.
- Coordinate internal meetings meant to advance the NIS, ensuring up-to-date agendas are maintained, meeting minutes are taken, and participants are invited.
- Coordinate logistics for external meetings and engagement sessions with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis partners.
- Ensure project timelines are monitored and documentation is organized to support the Office's reporting requirements to Corporate Development.
- Help maintain and update internal resources, such as the iO resource page, ensuring staff have access to tools needed for respectful engagement.
- Assist in maintaining organized records of external partnerships and contacts.
- Support the delivery of internal communications and learning opportunities designed to strengthen cultural competency and awareness of the NIS among staff.
- Support the Espaces Autochtones team and regional stations teams by providing content expertise or helping with inclusion initiatives, if required.
- Represent Radio-Canada at outreach events and activities.
- Directly impacts the execution, operational flow, and timeline management of projects within the Indigenous Office and Corporate Development.
- Indirectly facilitates positive change, internal engagement, and cultural competency across the entire public broadcaster (CBC/Radio-Canada).
- Impacts external relations and the growth of trusting partnerships with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities across the country.
- Works independently with some operational guidance from management and team colleagues.
- Operates under the functional guidance of the Senior Advisor to ensure objectives are aligned.
- Does not possess editorial decision-making authority or provide sensitive cultural advisory on specific protocols
- Internal:
Collaborates with managers, colleagues, and teams across various departments of CBC/Radio-Canada, including Corporate Development, Espaces Autochtones, and regional stations. - External:
Interacts with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis partners to coordinate meetings, engagement sessions, and maintain partnership records. - Effective Interaction:
- Acts as a proven team player who works cross-departmentally to gather information, align timelines, and move strategic initiatives forward.
- Fosters collaboration to build solid, trusting relationships with both internal stakeholders and external Indigenous communities.
- Leadership:
- Provides functional coordination support to ensure project timelines, documentation, and meetings are strictly managed.
- Provides content expertise or assistance with inclusion initiatives to the Espaces Autochtones and regional station teams when required.
- Proactively proposes innovative ideas to advance the objectives of the National Indigenous Strategy.
