DescriptionOf Work
This role focuses on training miners, supporting emergency response operations, and maintaining critical rescue equipment used throughout the Tremont mine rescue station. As a Mine Safety Emergency Response and Training Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
- Mine Rescue Training: Conduct classroom and underground training on mine rescue principles for anthracite miners
- First Aid Instruction: Deliver basic first aid and CPR courses through lecture and hands-on practice
- Safety Refresher Courses: Provide annual refresher training for underground and surface miners on key safety and health topics
- Equipment Maintenance: Repair and calibrate rescue equipment including breathing apparatus, gas detectors, and communication devices
- Emergency Readiness: Remain on call to deploy rescue vehicles and provide technical help during mine emergencies
- Record Management: Maintain detailed records for training, equipment testing, and regulatory notifications

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Tremont. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
Additional details may be provided during the interview. - Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $73, 692 (before taxes).

Qualifications
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Five years of underground mining experience, including one year of experience as a mine rescue instructor within the past five years; or
- Five years of underground mining experience, including two years of experience as a member of a mine rescue team.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
