How You Make a Difference In This Role- The candidate for this role will work with a statewide, employer-first mindset while strengthening regional and local partnerships.
- Coordinate the regional TNWorks team and maintain clear communication and shared responsibility among partners.
- Serve on Local Workforce Development Boards and/or Regional Planning Councils as assigned.
- Travel regularly throughout the assigned region and statewide for employer visits, business meetings, workforce initiatives, and partner engagements.
- Maintain high-quality records and timely follow-up as core parts of the job.
- Support the statewide vision established by TDLWD, TNWorks, and the State Workforce Board.
- Demonstrated experience engaging senior business leaders and understanding business operations, growth strategies, workforce economics, or talent strategy.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex or ambiguous business/workforce problems and convert them into actionable strategies.
- Evidence of initiative, independent judgment, and successful execution in environments requiring influence across organizational boundaries.
- Experience using quantitative and qualitative information to identify trends, test assumptions, and inform strategy, translating employer or market intelligence into broader organizational, regional, or sector-level action, facilitating meetings, coordinating teams from different organizations, and managing complex projects.
- Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills and have strong judgment, organization, adaptability, ethics, relationship-building, and follow-through.
- Ability to travel throughout the assigned region and statewide as needed.
The TNWorks Business & Workforce Director (BWD) serves as the primary representative of TNWorks within the Middle region of Tennessee, leading employer engagement and coordinating the delivery of customized workforce solutions across the state's workforce ecosystem.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
