What Your Job Will Be Like:

Are you passionate about your work and interested in joining a dynamic team that solves challenging health physics problems in support of our nation's security? If so, the Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) Radiation Protection (RP) organization is seeking an experienced Radiological Emergency Planner within the RP Policy & Administration Department.

This position is within the RP Quality and Compliance (RPQC) group, which develops and maintains Sandia Radiation Protection Program's radiological emergency response readiness and preparedness in accordance with 10 CFR 835, the U.S. Department of Energy's Comprehensive Emergency Management System and Continuity Programs, and Radiation Protection procedures.

The Radiological Emergency Planner develops and maintains Radiation Protection emergency responder roles and responsibilities, training, process documents, and radiological drill and exercise scenarios and data. Working in partnership with Sandia Emergency Management, this position supports response to credible onsite and offsite radiological emergencies involving radioactive materials and/or radiation-generating devices. The selected candidate also develops and implements radiological emergency response training for local, state, and other response partners.

On

any given day, you may be called on to:

Develop and maintain plans and procedures for credible radiological emergencies involving radioactive materials and/or radiation-generating devices at Sandia-controlled facilities and environs.

In collaboration with RP Training and Education personnel, develop, maintain, and execute initial qualification and continuing training programs for Radiation Protection emergency responders.

Collaborate effectively with line management, staff, and external federal, state, and local emergency management, law enforcement, and government representatives.

Support development and implementation of multi-year drill and exercise programs, including credible radiological event scenarios and associated radiological data, in partnership with Sandia Emergency Management.

Serve as a radiological emergency responder and participate in on-call coverage during non-standard work hours to support actual Sandia radiological emergencies.

Work is fast-paced, and assignments may change frequently in response to customer and RP organizational needs. Some travel may be required. Activities may involve work with or in the presence of hazardous materials, including ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals, biological hazards, safety hazards, noise, and ergonomic hazards.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work 100% onsite at Sandia's Albuquerque, New Mexico site.

Salary Range:

$102,400 - $199,700

* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
