Job Description Summary
The Associate Director, Specialty Contracting, reports to the Head of Specialty Contracting & Operations and is responsible for drafting Market Access contracts for assigned accounts. The role manages the end‑to‑end contracting process, including contract and template design, development, drafting, approval, redline management with customers and internal stakeholders, execution, and interfacing with Contract Operations to maintain agreements in the Sandoz Contract Lifecycle Management system.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the end‑to‑end contracting process for assigned accounts.
- Draft, negotiate, and execute contracts with MCOs, PBMs, health plans, specialty pharmacies, specialty distributors, GPOs, and integrated delivery networks.
- Collaborate with the Market Access & Account Strategy team on developing and implementing new product and contracting strategies, including launches.
- Liaise with Legal and internal business partners to develop standard and customized terms and conditions.
- Ensure all financial, legal, compliance, and corporate guidelines are met.
- Develop and maintain contract templates to support approved contracting strategy.
- Work with Account Managers and internal team members to ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to Contracts team members on new processes and standard methodologies.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
- Accuracy and timeliness of contracting deliverables.
- Effectiveness in translating stakeholder input into contract terms.
- Demonstrated leadership in customer negotiations.
- Depth of customer insight and application in shaping negotiation strategy.
- Contracting excellence & operational rigor: attention to detail and superior project and time‑management skills.
- Strategic interpretation & communication: analytical thinking and stakeholder engagement.
- Negotiation skills & influence: ability to balance customer needs with company objectives.
- Customer & market insights: deep knowledge of customers and strategic collaboration.
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of drafting and negotiating pharmaceutical commercial contracts.
- Advanced understanding of legal and business aspects of commercial pharmaceutical contracts, including contract terms interpretation.
- Broad‑based contracting experience across multiple customer segments (managed care, specialty pharmacies, distribution, institutional).
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management.
- Highly developed time‑management skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- People management experience.
- Advanced degree in Legal Studies, Health Administration, or Business Administration.
- Competitive salary: $145,600 – $270,400 USD per year (subject to market factors).
