The Compliance Consultant partners with leadership to support the Optum Compliance Exam Management Program, helping to ensure effective and timely identification, coordination, and oversight of regulatory exams and client audits across Optum businesses. This role contributes to audit response, reporting, and ongoing program activities that support consistent and compliant exam management.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the centralized management of regulatory exams, client audits, and oversight reviews across Optum businesses
- Partner with business stakeholders to develop audit deliverables and drive exams through resolution and corrective action
- Coordinate directly with external auditors and clients to support audit execution and optimize outcomes
- Maintain complete and accessible documentation of exam materials, responses, and outcomes to support ongoing knowledge management
- Develop a solid understanding of business operations, systems, and products to effectively support exam management
- Represent the Exam Management function on cross functional initiatives, including leading efforts as needed
- Monitor, analyze, and report on exam activity, identifying trends and recommending targeted and systemic improvements
- Evaluate audit results and engage with regulators or clients to address draft findings and influence outcomes where appropriate
- Partner with Compliance Operations and the business to ensure timely and effective implementation of corrective actions and process enhancements

Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a healthcare or regulated environment
- 1+ years of experience supporting regulatory exams, audits, or client oversight activities
- Experience coordinating cross functional stakeholders and delivering audit-related responses
- Working knowledge of Medicare and/or Medicaid regulations
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent audits with solid attention to detail and deadlines
- Proven analytical skills with the ability to assess audit outcomes and identify risks or gaps
- Proven effective written and verbal communication skills, including experience interfacing with internal stakeholders, clients, or auditors
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize work, and drive issues to resolution
- Willing and able to travel up to 10%
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with exam or audit management methodologies and centralized tracking tools
- Experience supporting enterprise level or multi business compliance programs
- Knowledge of process improvement practices and ability to drive standardization
- Familiarity with compliance reporting, trend analysis, and development of corrective action recommendations
- Familiarity with AI or automation tools to support workflow efficiency
- Proficiency with data analysis and reporting tools
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex issues into actionable solutions
- Demonstrated solid organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment.
