Associate, Excess Casualty Pricing and Modeling - REMOTE

Nationwide’s Excess Casualty Lines team is hiring a Pricing Modeler to help shape sophisticated insurance pricing and deliver insights that influence business decisions. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong technical skills and either a solid actuarial foundation, Excess Casualty insurance knowledge, or both.

In this position, you will work at the intersection of pricing strategy, actuarial thinking, and predictive analytics. You will partner closely with teammates and business partners to build, enhance, and refine excess casualty insurance pricing. You will also have the opportunity to work across teams on a variety of projects, expand your technical toolkit, and deepen your understanding of how pricing drives real business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a technical expert in actuarial methodologies, conducting complex analyses and providing high-level consultation.
  • Build and maintain business relationships, leading pricing and product initiatives.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to deliver actionable, data-driven insights that inform strategic decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A minimum of five years of actuarial experience.
  • ACAS certification and working towards FCAS or recently attained FCAS.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, Power BI, Databricks, SQL, analytical software, and programming languages.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and developing strategic pricing plans.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently.

This role can be staffed fully remote.

As a Consultant, you’ll work on projects associated with the design, development, and application of unique risk models. You’ll need a basic understanding of broad business objectives and will work with business partners across the finance organization to develop solutions to pressing business needs. We’ll count on you to be a subject matter authority in Nationwide’s risks. It’s imperative that you are fully proficient with basic and sophisticated mathematical, statistical and analytical techniques associated with risk modeling.
