Manager of Capital

The Manager of Capital oversees the management, tracking, and optimization of Surgical Solutions' capital equipment across all NYC client facilities. This role is responsible for inventory accuracy, equipment movement, repair coordination, vendor relationships, KPI tracking, and cost-saving initiatives. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, knowledge of surgical and endoscopic equipment, and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach. This role supports operational efficiency and ensures equipment availability across the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all capital equipment across multiple facilities.
  • Track equipment usage, depreciation, and lifecycle to support procurement and replacement planning.
  • Coordinate movement of equipment between sites to optimize utilization and meet operational needs.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of equipment status, service history, and location changes.
  • Use Excel and other tools to organize data, analyze trends, and support reporting.
  • Lead quarterly inventory audits across all sites.
  • Manage repair processes to ensure timely service and minimal equipment downtime.
  • Coordinate with repair vendors to initiate service, monitor progress, and ensure timely communication.
  • Track service histories to identify recurring issues and support preventative maintenance plans.
  • Ensure availability and management of loaner equipment during repair periods.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers to resolve warranty issues and facilitate cost-effective repairs or replacements.
  • Work with vendors to ensure compliance with contract terms and service-level agreements.
  • Assist in negotiating pricing, warranties, and service agreements to support cost savings.
  • Help develop and manage vendor contracts associated with capital equipment services.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs related to utilization, downtime, repair costs, and service performance.
  • Analyze equipment data to identify trends and support strategic planning.
  • Prepare and distribute regular performance, cost, and utilization reports.
  • Identify and implement improvements to inventory tracking and equipment maintenance processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
  • Partner with Operations, Finance, Procurement, and Clinical teams to align equipment strategies with organizational goals.
  • Support capital planning and budgeting efforts with data-driven recommendations.

Work Environment:

  • Hospitals operate 24/7 and involve fast-paced environments with exposure to blood borne pathogens, chemical disinfectants, and infectious materials.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE (eye protection, gloves, shoe covers, head covering, gown).
  • Approximately 20% home office / 80% travel for on-site audits, evaluations, and vendor coordination.
