DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports community engagement, media relations, and safety promotion throughout the district. Your primary responsibilities will focus on sharing information, coordinating programs, and working with partners to encourage safer travel. As a Safety Press Officer, you will perform the following duties:

  • Safety Promotion:
    Support district safety initiatives and assist law enforcement agencies with outreach efforts
  • Media Coordination:
    Monitor news coverage, respond to concerns, and serve as a district spokesperson
  • Program Development:
    Create and administer safety programs for topics such as teen driving, weather hazards, and aggressive driving
  • Public Outreach:
    Engage with the media, civic groups, and communities to promote safe driving habits
  • Content Creation:
    Write press releases, publish safety materials, and update website and social media content
  • Partnership Building:
    Maintain communication with community groups, safety partners, and district personnel to support safety efforts

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS), per manager's approval.
  • Telework:
    You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week, per manager's approval. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bridgeville.

    The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview .

  • Two years of experience as a Transportation Community Relations Coordinator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
