What Your Job Will Be LikeWe are seeking Contracting Specialists to join our dynamic team. We are active in identifying candidates with relevant academic and work experience in an effort to meet our staffing needs and objectives for either current or near-term positions.
Selected applicants will be interviewed by a subcommittee of managers and staff. Subsequently, successful applicants will be provided to managers for placement in positions across the Laboratory. These positions require reporting onsite due to the nature of the work.
Candidates are expected to team with others to support Sandia's mission by adding value, improving operations, offering innovative solutions and appropriately managing risk for the corporation.
Position Information
The Contracting Specialist partners with leadership across projects to ensure efficient planning, negotiation, and closure of subcontracts for Sandia. They maintain compliance with policies, represent Sandia with external stakeholders, and manage legally binding subcontracts and agreements in accordance with federal regulations. Responsibilities include identifying and mitigating risks, managing various supply chain/mission programs, and developing project plans for timely subcontract execution.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Partner with leadership to ensure efficient planning, negotiation, and closure of critical path contracts/subcontracts for Sandia.
- Represent Sandia positively with external stakeholders at local and national levels.
- Commit Sandia to legally binding subcontracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and prime contract requirements.
- Develop strategies with leadership to identify and mitigate risks and disruptions while balancing efficiency and compliance.
- Participate in self-assessment and review activities to assure compliance for stakeholders and coordinate responses to audits and special requests.
- Monitor key activities, develop intervention mechanisms, and create project plans to ensure timely execution of subcontracts and agreements.
- Research and evaluate information to provide solutions to complex issues, leveraging a broad network of stakeholders for cross-functional problem-solving.
- Make independent, judgment-based decisions and take calculated risks based on expertise.
