The Economic Development Manager is a full-time hybrid role based in Kandiyohi, MN, with some flexibility for work from home. This position is responsible for managing and advancing economic development projects, including business retention and expansion efforts, workforce initiatives, and strategies to attract new businesses. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating with local government officials, business leaders, and community partners; preparing reports, proposals, and presentations;

and analyzing economic and demographic data to guide decision-making. The Economic Development Manager will develop and implement strategic plans, assist entrepreneurs and existing businesses with resources and referrals, and support grant applications and funding opportunities. The role also involves representing Kandiyohi County Economic Development at meetings and events, maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, and communicating progress and outcomes to leadership and the public.

• Demonstrated knowledge of Economic Development and Community Development principles and practices.
• Experience or education in Public Administration and Local Government operations.
• Familiarity with Urban Planning concepts and their application to local and regional development.
• Strong analytical, research, and project management skills to support planning and implementation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with businesses, government entities, and community organizations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Economic Development, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Business, or related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a specific degree.
• Proficiency with common office software and data analysis tools; experience with GIS or economic impact modeling is a plus.
• Capacity to work independently, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing priorities in a hybrid work environment.
