Job purpose:

The Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) is a crucial international household survey program developed by UNICEF to gather data on children and women. Over 30 years, MICS has evolved significantly, becoming a leading global source of comparable data on child protection, early childhood development, education, health, and nutrition. In Uzbekistan, UNICEF is supporting the MICS-7 initiative for . This consultancy aims to ensure the smooth implementation of the MICS survey, providing essential support to the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan (NSC) from preparatory stages through to the release of results.

The consultant will facilitate the use of CAPI for data collection, enhancing efficiency and data quality.

Responsibilities:
The National MICS Consultant will support the preparation, implementation, and completion of the MICS survey in Uzbekistan under the supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation (CRM) Specialist. The consultant will collaborate closely with and advise the NSC, including the Survey Coordinator and experts in sampling and data processing. Key responsibilities include guiding survey planning, questionnaire design, sampling methodologies, training of field staff, fieldwork oversight, data processing, data analysis, dissemination of findings, and archiving of survey materials, ensuring adherence to MICS protocols.

The consultant will act as a liaison between the UNICEF Country Office and the NSC, attend necessary meetings, and coordinate other resource persons providing technical assistance. Collaboration with Regional MICS Coordinators and the UNICEF Headquarters MICS Team is also essential. The consultant will also work with expert consultants supporting the Uzbekistan MICS. This role requires ensuring that all MICS protocols and recommendations are followed throughout the survey lifecycle.

Education:

Master's degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Demography, Epidemiology, or a related technical field.

Work experience:

Minimum of 10 years of experience in coordinating/managing quantitative household surveys (MICS or DHS experience preferred). Experience with CAPI data collection, training, data analysis, survey report writing, and proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS) are required.
