Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Virtual Career Growth Mentor

There's a specific kind of stuck that doesn't show up on a resume. Someone's good at their job, maybe even great at it, but they've hit a wall they can't quite name — not sure if they want the promotion, not sure if they're even in the right field anymore. As a Virtual Career Growth Mentor, you're the person they finally say that out loud to, and the one who helps them figure out what comes next.

What

This Role Is About

You’ll work one-on-one with professionals over video, helping them turn a vague sense of “I want more” into an actual plan. Sometimes that’s someone prepping for their first leadership role. Sometimes it's a mid-career person quietly burning out and not sure how to say so. The common thread is that people come to you stuck, and they leave with a next step they actually believe in.

What

a Week Might Look Like
  • Run one-on-one mentoring sessions with clients at very different career stages — a first-time job seeker one hour, someone prepping for a promotion conversation the next
  • Help clients build out a realistic career development plan, whether that means moving into management or switching industries entirely
  • Support people through career transitions, including things like imposter syndrome in a new role or a shift from corporate work to freelancing
  • Offer practical guidance on workplace situations — handling conflict, building credibility on a remote team, that kind of thing
  • Check in on progress between sessions and actually notice when someone’s stalled, not just when they’ve hit the next milestone

And yes — you’ll be there for the good moments too. The first confident presentation. The negotiation that actually worked. That promotion someone doubted they'd get.

Where You Actually Make a Difference

A lot of people know they want something different but can't quite put it into words. Part of the job is helping them get specific — is it more responsibility they're after, a leadership track, or honestly just a saner work‑life balance? Once that’s clear, the plan becomes much easier to build. Remote work also has a way of making people doubt themselves more than they would in an office, simply because of the isolation.

You’ll be the voice reminding someone of what they’re actually good at when they’ve lost sight of it, and helping them build the kind of confidence that doesn’t evaporate the second the call ends. And it’s not just about the first win. Plenty of people land the new role and then stall right after. Part of your job is making sure growth doesn’t stop the moment the immediate goal is met.

What

You’ll Need
  • Minimum education required:
    Bachelor's degree.
  • On experience, you’ll need at least 2 years in career coaching, mentoring, or a closely related field — formal or informal counts, as long as it’s real.
  • Beyond that:
You listen for what’s not being said as much as what is.
  • You’re comfortable coaching people across industries — tech, healthcare, marketing, finance, wherever they land.
  • You know your way around remote coaching tools: video calls, shared documents, digital whiteboards for mapping out a plan.
  • You have the patience to stick with someone through the slow parts of growth, not just the exciting milestones.
  • You can hold space for someone who’s scared of change without pushing them faster than they’re ready for.
Nice to Have
  • A coaching or mentoring certification, though we care more about how you actually work with people.
  • Experience specifically mentoring people transitioning into leadership.
  • Familiarity with modern workplace trends and how career paths are shifting in a remote‑first world.
  • Some background in goal‑setting frameworks or structured career planning methods.
