Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Supervising Social Worker to join a respected fostering agency focused on providing safe, nurturing, and supportive homes for children. The Supervising Social Worker will play an essential role in delivering a high-quality fostering service that promotes positive outcomes for looked-after children. The position involves managing a caseload of foster carers, overseeing recruitment, assessment, training, and ongoing support to ensure carers meet the highest safeguarding standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Foster Carer Management:
Recruiting, assessing, and monitoring the suitability of foster carers, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children. The Supervising Social Worker will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with foster carers and assessing their ability to meet the developmental needs of children placed in their care.
* Safeguarding:
Implement and oversee safeguarding policies to protect children's welfare, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. The Supervising Social Worker will be accountable for promoting safeguarding practices across all aspects of the foster care service.
* Training and Support:
Provide ongoing training and support to foster carers, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively care for children with diverse needs, including those with special educational needs (SEN) and emotional behavioural difficulties (EBD).
* Case Management:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with legal and organisational standards, ensuring compliance with all regulations and policies.
* Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other professionals such as social workers, education staff, and healthcare providers to optimise outcomes for children.
Qualifications and
Experience:
* Social Work qualification (BA or MA)
* Registration with Social Work England
* Proven experience in fostering or child protection
* Strong understanding of safeguarding, child welfare issues, and regulations
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and within a team environment
