Ulupono Family Strengthening Program works to increase the internal resources of families to handle challenges they face with their children. Family support work with parents/caregivers of children ages birth to 17 years old to provide parenting education, promote child health, development and safety, offer emotional support, link families to resources in their community.

The Program Supervisor supervises the delivery of voluntary culturally appropriate and strengths-based child abuse and neglect prevention and intervention services for low to moderate risk families referred by the Department of Human Services, Child Welfare Intake units. This position communicates frequently with community partners, home visitors, other supervisors, funders, and families. This position is under the direct supervision of the Program Director/Assistant Program Director.

1.Coordinates and ensures appropriate delivery of home-based child abuse and neglect prevention services identified by Child Welfare Services as low to moderate risk families with children, ages 0-17 assuring that these services focus on increasing parents’ ability to establish and maintain safety for their children, meet their children’s needs, problem solve, and access community resources to prevent re-occurrence of CWS involvement and provides back up services for Family Support Specialists.

2. Provides leadership, administrative, clinical, and reflective supervision as it relates to CWS families, to program staff and assumes all the responsibilities of a supervisor for the staff that report directly to this position, including orienting and training staff. Reviews and approves intakes of families to the team, providing consultations daily to field staff that need immediate guidance that involve child safety.

3. Ensures that the program is operating in a manner consistent with standards and guidelines established by funders, state law and the policies and procedures of the agency, including the Family Check-up model. Monitors the quality of services to all families and tracks the timely and accurate completion of ehana documentation, forms, and assessments. Provides updated information to referents about the status of referrals.

4. Provides assessment and information to Child Welfare Intake and Case Management staff on families with identified “imminent harm” to reassess the level of intervention needed for the family. Will also identify risk and harm factors that are presenting and warrant CWS to elevate a case.

5. Ensures that program objectives are met, including contract requirements, and that reports for accountability are submitted in a timely manner to the Program Director.
