Job Summary

The Construction Manager supports our leaders, managers, and employees. They champion our culture and core values. The role requires knowledge and professionalism in all aspects of Outside Plant Telecommunications activities, including safety culture development, people leadership, and financial/schedule management. The position reports to the Area Construction Manager.


* This position will be located in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Remote work is not an option for this role as it will require field work and daily site visits to project sites*

What You Get to Do (Duties/Responsibilities)
  • Oversee telecommunications construction projects.
  • Coordinate projects.
  • Collaborate with field inspectors, project managers, engineers & construction personnel.
  • Manage materials.
  • Field management and inspection: inspect subcontractors' work, verify compliance with Bonfire and permitting jurisdiction standards, enforce production goals, oversee FTTH infrastructure placement (aerial, trenching, boring, micro‑trenching, fiber placement, fiber splicing, fiber testing, FDH and OLT installation), daily production reporting, enforce safety protocols.
  • QA/QC.
  • Problem‑solve field construction issues, delays, emergencies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, permitting, and legal requirements.
  • Report on project progress to Bonfire and clients.
  • Liaise between landowners, permitting agencies, internal teams (design, project management), clients and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate subcontractor performance and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Organize and lead pre‑construction and post‑construction review meetings.
  • Serve as primary contact for junior inspectors, mentor and guide their inspection activities.
  • Report findings and progress regularly to Senior Project Manager(s), Area Construction Manager and Engineering Manager as needed.
What We Are Searching For (Required Skills/Abilities)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education/Certifications/Experience

At least ten years of relevant and progressive experience overseeing telecommunications fiber projects, including:

  • Permitting
  • Construction
  • Installation and turn‑up
  • Experience with telecommunication fiber projects such as FTTH (Fiber to The Home), Gigabit Passive Optical Networks (GPON/XGS‑PON), and understanding of OSP Telecommunication Construction deliverables and engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of OSP fiber construction (aerial, trenching, boring, micro‑trenching, fiber placement, splicing, testing).
  • Understanding rights of way (ROW) and permitting deliverables.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior field inspection staff (preferred).
What’s In It for You?

Base Pay: $75,000–$90,000 annually

Supplemental Pay:

  • Bonus Pay: 10% annually

Additional Details
  • Fieldwork required; exposure to construction sites, vehicles, and varying weather conditions.
