Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a Construction Manager to support one of our active construction projects in St. Louis on a Life Science campus. The candidate will assume responsibilities mid-project and function as a member of the local supervisory team overseeing all functions associated with construction management for assigned capital project(s).

The resource will work directly with engineering, facilities, maintenance, safety, GC, and site operations. There is potential for weekend work and potential support of 24/7 construction activities for a period of 6–8 weeks in May/June.

This resource will drive the means and methods for construction, work closely with contractors to schedule construction activities, provide input and direction to scheduling, and offer insight on change notices and reporting. The Construction Manager will advise and direct activities impacting facilities and maintenance operations and interact with other departments to ensure both site and departmental responsibilities are met within the project delivery model.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive day-to-day construction activities for assigned capital projects

  • Support site safety

  • Participate in the review of scope changes and vendor/contractor change orders

  • Work with the construction team to provide critical lift plans for equipment installations

  • Provide input on construction schedules

  • Execute means and methods for all construction activities on site

  • Coordinate plant with other departments for site-wide outages related to construction activities

  • Develop and drive enforcement of Build Clean Protocols

  • Review all construction bids and provide basis for vendor selection for assigned project(s)

  • Support and provide training on site safety requirements

Required Experience:

  • Construction management experience (10+ years preferred)

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong safety knowledge and experience supporting site safety initiatives

  • Experience working on active capital projects

Nice-to-Have Experience:

  • Experience executing brown field construction in an operating life-science site

  • Experience supporting multi-stage construction and commissioning activities

Required Skills:

  • Construction means and methods execution

  • Contractor coordination and scheduling input

  • Change order and scope review

Preferred Skills:

  • Brown field construction experience

  • Life sciences campus project experience

  • 24/7 construction support coordination

  • Safety training and protocol enforcement
