Electric Utility As-Built Technician; Unit Writer

As‑Built Technician (Unit Writer) is responsible for collecting and verifying field data to produce accurate as‑built documentation for completed overhead electrical distribution projects. This role supports both construction and design teams by ensuring that all installed facilities are properly recorded in accordance with utility standards and construction drawings.

• The position provides for the ability to work from home / in-office, and does require field visits to construction sites.
• Perform field verification of completed overhead electrical distribution projects to capture actual installation details.
• Record precise information on pole locations, equipment placement, conductor sizes, guying, clearances, and grounding details.
• Compare installed construction to original design plans and identify any deviations or field changes.
• Update redline drawings and enter as‑built data into digital mapping systems (such as GIS, Maximo, or other utility asset management software).
• Collect accurate GPS coordinates, photos, and detailed notes to support asset documentation and future reference.
• Collaborate with construction supervisors, engineers, and design teams to confirm field modifications.
• Ensure all as‑built records meet utility and regulatory standards for accuracy, safety, and completeness.
• Maintain organized records of all projects and submit completed as‑built packages promptly after project closeout.
• Construction estimating of electric distribution line construction, as well as substation / switchyards.

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or an associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field preferred
• 5+ years of experience in electrical distribution construction, inspection, or design preferred.
• 5+ years of hands on experience constructing distribution construction, inspection, or design preferred.
• Expertise with overhead distribution components, utility standards, and construction practices.
• Experience with Maximo and Entergy Services, LLC operating systems, preferred
• Ability to read and interpret electrical design drawings, staking sheets, and pole diagrams.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Must be able to work safely in the field, sometimes in varying weather and terrain.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and field teams.

• Home Office-based with weekly travel to project construction sites.
• Exposure to outdoor conditions, uneven terrain, and active construction environments.
• May occasionally need to travel for brief periods, and assist during client electric restoration emergency response events.
