Job Details

Are you a seasoned professional with a strong background in construction and utilities? Do you have a knack for numbers and a keen eye for detail? We have an exciting opportunity for an Estimator focused on Civil/Utilities in the Construction industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for civil construction and utility projects, and will play a crucial role in the financial planning of construction projects including electrical infrastructure, telecommunications construction, lighting improvements, and industrial projects.

This is a full-time permanent position requiring at least 3 years of experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction and utility projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and other project-related costs.
  • Review project plans and specifications to determine scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
  • Conduct site visits and gather data to aid in estimate preparation.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and develop accurate cost estimates.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure they meet project specifications and budget.
  • Participate in the negotiation and awarding of contracts.
  • Maintain a comprehensive cost estimating database for future reference and cost analysis.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to management regarding cost estimation and project financial status.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends, advancements, and best practices in the construction industry.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Estimator in civil construction and utilities.
  • Proven experience with electrical infrastructure, telecommunications construction, lighting improvements, and industrial projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal requirements.
  • Exceptional numerical skills and the ability to create detailed and accurate cost estimates.
  • Proficient in cost estimating software and other relevant computer applications.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional certification in cost estimation or project management is an added advantage.
