Job Overview
Do you have the skills to guide important construction and maintenance work that will help our communities move safely and smoothly? The Department of Transportation is looking for a motivated Construction Project Administrator 1 who wants to make a real impact across our facilities. You will help shape projects that support daily operations and long‑term district goals and bring your energy to a team that values progress and teamwork.
Descriptionof Work
In this position you will support the overall management of district facilities, capital projects, and essential building operations. Your work will coordinate construction, maintenance, planning, and emergency response to keep PennDOT facilities safe and functional.
Key Responsibilities- Facility Oversight:
Manage district buildings, grounds, and facility assets across numerous locations. - Emergency Response:
Coordinate actions during facility emergencies and outline plans for safe reopening. - Project Management:
Guide construction projects through planning, design, tracking, and on‑site issues. - Technical Support:
Assist staff with specifications, contracts, and building system needs. - Stakeholder Coordination:
Work with district staff, contractors, and partners to support facility programs. - Site Inspections:
Visit facilities to document conditions, track updates, and monitor improvements.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours:
7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch. - Travel required.
- Telework:
Opportunity to work from home part‑time under specified conditions. - Salary:
In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.
- Six years of experience in building construction administration, construction planning, or multi‑trade building construction project management in commercial or industrial facilities; OR
- Two years of experience combined with a bachelor’s degree in a related field (construction technology, architecture, building science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, building automation systems, or a closely related field); OR
- An equivalent combination of experience and training, including two years of experience in building construction administration, construction planning, or multi‑trade building construction project management in commercial or industrial facilities.
- Possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
