At Richard, we are a growing general contractor focused on impacting the construction industry with innovative solutions. We are seeking a Quality Control Manager to ensure project quality meets our high standards.
Job SummaryThe Quality Control Manager (QCM) is responsible for implementing and maintaining the project quality control plan and for the overall quality control of the project. The QCM ensures construction projects meet the standards of excellence that Richard Group embodies. The position reports to a project site five days a week and requires proximity to the project location; relocation housing may be provided.
Projects typically range from 1–3 years in length. The ideal candidate should be flexible and open to assignments at other project locations nationwide after the initial assignment.
- Develop and implement the construction sections of the project quality control plan (including the three phases of quality control) in compliance with Federal, DoD, and Navy requirements.
- Direct and approve the correction of non-conforming or unsafe construction work under the contract.
- Monitor and approve the quality of materials, plans, surveys, fabrication, as-built drawings, and other construction-related work to ensure compliance with specifications, workmanship standards, and contract requirements.
- Review project plans for quality requirements.
- Plan and organize quality processes such as work planning, pre-activity meetings, material management, incident reports, and corrective actions.
- Direct inspections, testing, and documentation.
- Maintain working knowledge of owner contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
- Maintain relationships with owners, clients, and subcontractors.
- Maintain appropriate project documentation including change order logs, RFI logs, and submittal logs.
- Ensure timely and safe completion of projects in accordance with safety goals, contract documents, and project budgets.
- 5+ years of experience with a federal general contracting company
- CQCM certification and experience administering the three phases of quality control on multiple projects
- Thorough understanding of construction materials, means and methods, and building systems
- Experience in federal sector projects
- Experience in healthcare projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Bluebeam
- Ability to write and comprehend RFIs
- Strong communication skills with home office, Owner, and Subcontractors
- Availability to work on any shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) as hospital construction occurs around the clock
- Experience with Davis-Bacon Prevailing wage projects
- Ability to pass a background investigation and a drug test
- Desire to stay and grow with a company that provides mentorship, accountability, and opportunities for advancement
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
- Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience managing projects $20M+
