Remote Estimator -- Role Description & Qualifications Role Overview
The Remote Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, pricing analyses, and project quotations by reviewing technical documentation, specifications, and project requirements. Working in a remote environment, this role supports planning and budgeting activities by evaluating labor, materials, equipment, and other project-related costs. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple estimates while meeting established deadlines.
Key Responsibilities- Review project documents, specifications, and scope requirements to prepare cost estimates.
- Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs to develop accurate pricing.
- Prepare detailed estimates, budgets, and quotation documents for proposed projects.
- Identify cost risks, assumptions, and opportunities for optimization during the estimating process.
- Maintain and update cost databases, pricing information, and estimating records.
- Collaborate with project, procurement, operations, and technical teams to clarify project requirements.
- Monitor estimate revisions and ensure documentation remains current throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare cost comparison reports and support budget planning activities.
- Ensure estimates comply with internal standards, project specifications, and established procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating methods, templates, and reporting processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in estimating, cost analysis, project planning, or pricing is preferred.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical documents, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets, estimating software, and standard office applications.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with cross-functional teams.
