Role DescriptionThe Senior Estimator is a full-time, hybrid role based in the Greater Philadelphia area, with a combination of on-site work and some work-from-home flexibility. This role is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including quantity takeoffs, labor and material pricing, subcontractor quotations, and overall bid proposals. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing drawings and specifications, analyzing project scope, assessing risk, and collaborating with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
The Senior Estimator will participate in bid reviews, value engineering, and budgeting for both new bids and change orders. This position also supports continuous improvement of estimating processes, maintains cost databases, and provides clear communication of estimate assumptions and results to leadership.
- Strong estimating and cost analysis skills for construction projects, including quantity takeoffs and bid preparation.
- Proficiency with construction estimating software and common office tools (e.g., Excel, PDF markup tools, project management platforms).
- Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, building codes, and industry standards.
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts with high attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
- Several years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in a senior or lead capacity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
