We are looking for an experienced Safety / Quality professional to support construction projects for County Engineering, Facilities & Capital Projects.
Location: Mercer County, NJ — Trenton & active construction sites
Client: County of Mercer, New Jersey
Contract: CC2026-29
Work Arrangement: Primarily onsite/field-based, with some office/remote work for non-field tasks
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and audits
- Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA regulations, site-specific safety plans, and County requirements
- Lead/support safety orientations, toolbox talks, and incident investigations
- Perform QA/QC inspections against contract documents, specifications, and approved submittals
- Track non-conformances, deficiencies, and corrective actions through closeout
- Support commissioning, punch-list verification, and project closeout QA/QC
- Support safety and security assessments during project planning
- Prepare periodic safety and quality reports for County project reporting
- 6+ years of construction safety and/or quality assurance experience
- Experience with public-sector or institutional construction projects
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification — Required
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification — Required
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, ADA, local codes, safety compliance, and quality inspection
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent certified safety experience may be considered.
- OSHA 500 certification
- CSP or CHST certification
- ASQ certification such as CQA
- Experience developing/administering site-specific safety plans
- Hazardous materials safety experience, including asbestos/lead, especially in occupied buildings
- Commissioning and systems-startup QA/QC experience
- Experience with Procore Safety/QC modules, Bluebeam Revu, and MS Office
Compliance:
Candidates must pass a New Jersey State Police Criminal Background Check prior to site access and comply with applicable U.S. immigration requirements.
