Design Coordinator

Every change order has a cause, and most of them are sitting in the drawings months before anyone pours concrete. This role is how we find them. You’re the central point between the owner, the architects, the engineers, and ourpreconstruction team, and you don’t let a set go to construction with a conflict in it.

You sit with the preconstruction team, working alongside the president, thesenior estimator, and the preconstruction project manager, and with the construction team when a job needs it.

This is a remote position. You’ll work through Teams, phone, and email, in daily,weekly, and project-specific meetings, and you’ll be reachable through business hours.

• Coordinate every phase of design, from kickoff through construction document completion.
• Work with our preconstruction project managers to set design schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
• Run QC on the documents — verify architectural, structural, civil, MEP, fire protection, and specialty consultant drawings are coordinated and conflict-free.
• Review for compliance with Dempsey Gill standards, owner requirements, specifications, and applicable codes.
• Confirm every drawing, spec, schedule, and detail is complete before each milestone.
• Flag discrepancies, omissions, and constructability concerns, and work the consultants until they’re resolved.
• Track design progress and call out delays before they hit the schedule.
• Confirm revisions actually made it into the next submission.
• Support the preconstruction team on budgeting, estimating, value engineering, and constructability reviews, including alternative materials, systems, and methods.
• Coordinate design-phase RFIs, and schedule and run the design meetings — agendas, minutes, and an action item log that stays current.
• Maintain the design logs, revision records, drawing distribution, and progress reporting the team runs on, and archive it properly.

• Three or more years in design coordination, architecture, engineering, construction management, or preconstruction.
• A degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management preferred.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and a real command of construction documents.
• Bluebeam Revu and Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore, or similar;
  AutoCAD or Revit is a plus.
• Microsoft Office and SharePoint or a comparable cloud document management system, with the version-control habits that go with them.
• The discipline to work independently, remotely, and stay reachable and accountable.

Success here is simple to measure: coordinated, complete documents, conflicts resolved before construction, and a project that moves from design to the field without a stack of RFIs waiting for it.
