Estimator – Electric Power Construction

Location: DeForest, WI or Commerce City, CO
Salary: $55,000–$79,000
Employment Type: Full-Time | In-Office

Position Overview

We are partnering with an established electrical construction organization that is expanding its electric power operations and building out a dedicated estimating function.

The company is seeking an Estimator to support estimating and preconstruction activities for electric power construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a construction estimating or technical background who wants to build a career within the electric power industry.

Previous electric power estimating experience is not required. The team is willing to train the right candidate who brings a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and understanding of construction plans and estimating fundamentals.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of estimates for electric power construction projects
  • Review project plans, specifications, drawings, and bid documents
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
  • Develop and maintain detailed estimating spreadsheets
  • Work closely with project management, operations, preconstruction, and field teams
  • Review CAD and BIM drawings to understand project scope
  • Assist with bid preparation, scope review, and estimate documentation
  • Track estimating information and project data throughout the preconstruction process
  • Support the continued development of the company’s dedicated electric power estimating function
Qualifications
  • Previous estimating, construction, engineering, or related technical experience preferred
  • Electric power estimating experience is not required
  • Experience with electrical construction, utilities, transmission, distribution, or substations is a plus
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, but not required
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working with detailed project documentation and construction drawings
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project management, engineering, preconstruction, and field personnel
  • Interest in developing long-term expertise within electric power construction
Software & Technical Skills

Experience with any of the following is preferred:

  • Microsoft Excel — strong proficiency highly valued
  • Bluebeam
  • Primavera P6
  • CAD drawings
  • BIM drawings
  • Construction estimating and takeoff software
Compensation & Location
  • Base salary: $55,000–$79,000
  • Position may be based in DeForest, Wisconsin or Commerce City, Colorado
  • This is an in-office position with occasional work-from-home flexibility as circumstances allow
  • Relocation assistance may be available and is evaluated on a case-by-case basis
Compensation:

$79,000 per year
