The Construction Surveyor is a full-time hybrid role based in Metairie, LA, with some flexibility for work from home. This role is responsible for performing site surveys, setting out construction reference points, and verifying elevations and alignments to support accurate project execution. The Construction Surveyor will inspect project sites to confirm compliance with design specifications, civil engineering requirements, and construction safety standards.
Daily responsibilities include collecting and analyzing field data, preparing survey reports and drawings, and coordinating with project managers, engineers, and field crews to resolve discrepancies. The role also involves maintaining survey equipment, documenting as-built conditions, and contributing to planning and scheduling activities to keep projects on track.
- Candidates should possess strong Planning skills, including site layout, scheduling support, and coordination with project teams.
- Candidates should possess Inspection skills to verify construction work against drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Candidates should possess Civil Engineering knowledge relevant to grading, alignment, utilities, and structural layouts.
- Candidates should possess Building Surveying skills for setting control points, measuring distances and elevations, and documenting as-built conditions.
- Candidates should possess Construction Safety awareness and adhere to all site safety procedures and regulations.
- Proficiency with surveying instruments (total stations, GPS, levels) and relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar) is beneficial.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in the field and in an office environment.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in surveying, civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Previous experience in construction surveying or field engineering on commercial or infrastructure projects is preferred.
