We are seeking an experienced Substation Project Manager professional to support a large portfolio of substation and grid modernization projects for a leading utility organization. This role will work closely with project managers and construction personnel to coordinate the successful delivery of critical substation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in substation construction and project execution, with hands‑on knowledge of utility equipment and field operations.
This position offers a blend of office, remote, and field‑based work, providing exposure to a diverse portfolio of grid reliability, aging asset replacement, and brownfield substation initiatives.
- Provide project management and project coordination support across a portfolio of substation and grid infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers to monitor project scope, schedule, budget, risks, and deliverables.
- Partner with construction teams and field personnel to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
- Support the delivery of aging asset replacement and brownfield substation projects involving upgrades, refurbishments, expansions, and equipment replacements.
- Help manage procurement, material delivery, project documentation, and stakeholder communications throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in project meetings, status updates, and reporting activities to ensure alignment among internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits several times per month to support construction activities, verify project progress, and coordinate with field teams.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to project management processes, resource planning, and portfolio execution.
- Work in a hybrid environment, balancing office collaboration, remote work, and occasional field support.
- Project management experience supporting utility, transmission, distribution, or substation infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated understanding of substation construction, commissioning, and installation processes.
- Experience working directly with Project Managers, engineers, designers, contractors, and construction personnel in a utility or power delivery environment.
- Solid knowledge of major substation equipment, including breakers, transformers, switches, bus systems, protection and control equipment, and related infrastructure.
- Experience supporting aging asset replacement, brownfield upgrades, rehabilitation programs, and capital improvement projects.
- Ability to understand technical drawings, construction packages, project schedules, and engineering deliverables.
- Familiarity with utility project execution methodologies, project controls, and construction management best practices.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple functional groups.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands within a large, complex project portfolio.
- Comfortable working in both office and field environments and traveling to project sites as needed.
