The Division of People Operations Learning & Development is offering an opportunity for a Learning Materials Designer in the Technical Unit. This position is responsible for designing and formatting all learning modules and related materials, including PowerPoint presentations, Facilitator Guides, Learner Guides and other learning resources used in instructor‑led and online settings. The Learning Materials Designer has three major areas of responsibility.
First, this position will work with the design team on the development and execution of various design projects including but not limited to learning materials, infographics, video, animation, templates, enhancement of existing materials, and branding. Second, the Learning Materials Designer will be responsible for capturing, editing, and producing photos and videos for internal and external customers. Third, this position will also have responsibility for internal marketing and communications.
This position reports to the Director of the Technical Unit.
- Produce creative design in a variety of mediums that meets the needs of our internal and external customers while maintaining high standards of brand consistency. Incorporate graphic design best practices into interactive learning modules, promotional videos, and marketing materials.
- Collaborate with designers and developers to create and incorporate rich assets that integrate seamlessly to provide a pleasing learner experience.
- Act as subject‑matter expert in multimedia and provide creative support across all divisions.
- Advise designers on graphic strategies to achieve learning outcomes and objectives.
- Provide guidance to less‑experienced designers. Research and apply current and developing graphic design, photography and video trends.
- Develop project goals, objectives and timetables for video production and post‑production.
- Design, produce and edit videos, presentations, visual effects and motion graphics.
- Take, edit and retouch photographs. Organize and maintain multimedia archives, libraries and equipment.
- Keep abreast of emerging multimedia technologies and find creative solutions to instructional gaps and perceived roadblocks.
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and experience equivalent to five years of full‑time relevant experience.
- 2 years of full‑time graphic art and/or graphic design and video work. Advanced Word and PowerPoint skills.
- Expertise with video and audio editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro. Knowledge of digital design tools, including Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator).
- Experience in curriculum design is highly preferred.
- Experience with Articulate 360 applications (Storyline, Presenter, Rise) preferred.
- Strong copy‑editing skills and demonstrates a good eye for design and layout.
- Knowledge of design fundamentals, such as type, color, presentation and layout.
