Yellow Brick Games is seeking a Material Artist to help bring our creative vision to life. You will be responsible for creating materials and textures to help the world shine. As part of a smaller studio, we value autonomy, proactivity, and the ability to create and act on your own tasks to achieve exceptional gameplay experiences. Yellow Brick Games is based in Quebec City, Canada, and we are open to discuss remote-work situations.

- Material & Texture Creation:
Create high-quality, visually appealing, procedural materials ranging from landscapes, buildings to environmental props - Tool Creation:
Create custom tools, nodes and generators to help speed up workflows and maintain consistent visual style and quality - Collaboration:
Work together with departments, leads and directors to support the visual intention and project vision - Texture Painting:
Support the team by texturing assets and demonstrating best practices - Technically Minded:
Working with the Technical team to make sure textures, materials and shaders are optimized and maintain performance - Library Maintenance:
Keep our internal library up to date with the latest materials, textures and tools - Documentation:
Produce detailed and clear documentation to support the artist’s understanding of new workflows and best practices. Keep internal boards organized and updated - Contribution:
Provide feedback, propose new solutions and take an active part in the project’s development
- Expert knowledge of Substance Designer
- Strong knowledge of Substance Painter
- Knowledge on how to author, create and manage trim sheets
- Knowledge of technical aspects such as UV’s, Texel Density, Color Space & Physically Based Shading
- Ability to translate concept art / photo reference to materials
- High degree of autonomy, with the ability to effectively create, manage, and complete your own tasks
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines
- Experience with shader creation in Unreal Engine
- Experience with 3D Modeling Software, as this position might require modeling support from time to time
- Python Knowledge
