Overview
The Video Producer is a full-time employee and a member of the Communications Department at the national headquarters of the American Red Cross. This individual will support the mission by producing, shooting and editing videos, cataloguing content, helping to manage production schedules and budgets, and deploying to capture content.
This position is part of the Content and Channel Strategy Team and reports to the Senior Director of Visual Communications. Preferred location is the Washington, DC area; however, candidates working remotely from other parts of the country will be considered.
Responsibilities- Edit videos and b-roll packages using Adobe Premiere to help tell the Red Cross story.
- Manage video shoots nationwide, including hiring freelancers, creating budgets, scheduling, liaising with local teams, writing interview questions and gathering releases.
- Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders, including all five lines of service and departments such as Fundraising, Marketing and Government Relations, to develop videos that meet their needs.
- Shoot broadcast-quality interviews, direct-to-camera videos and b-roll.
- Partner with other members of the Content & Channel Strategy team to build and refine You Tube strategy, applying platform best practices to increase reach, engagement and discoverability.
- Create video graphics using Red Cross templates via Adobe Photoshop.
- Review videos from other departments, outside video producers and Red Cross regions for production values, accuracy, and brand standards.
- Media manage incoming video assets.
- Post videos on Vimeo and You Tube, including creation of custom thumbnails, SEO-friendly titles and descriptions, and basic performance optimization using platform analytics.
- Ensure videos are accessible with captions for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and oversee caption translation processes.
- Train local and regional Red Cross communications staff in video production.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree required. - Experience:
Minimum 5 years of video production and still photography experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. - Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe Premiere.
- Experience shooting high-quality videos and still photos using professional cameras, lighting and audio equipment.
- Experience tailoring video content to specific platforms and audiences, particularly You Tube. Experience developing, managing or growing a You Tube channel and familiarity with You Tube analytics, audience behavior and content optimization strategies is highly preferred.
- Strong strategic thinking, planning, attention to detail, multi-tasking, organization and problem-solving skills; able to manage projects from start to end in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual Spanish/English skills are preferred;
Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply. - Ability to collaborate with people at all levels of a large, complex organization and work in high-pressure situations.
- This position may require irregular or extended hours, including weekends, evenings, and travel, as needed.
- Combination of education and general experience satisfies requirements; management experience cannot be substituted.
The salary range for this position is $90,000 – 110,000. The American Red Cross sets salary ranges aligned to a specific geographic location. The stated salary range is an average and will be shared at the time of phone screening based on location and qualifications. This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and may be extended if needed.
