Job Summary:
Owls in this role will assist in the creation and manipulation of 3D and 2D art assets in accordance with best practices and platform requirements. Additionally, this role is expected to rig and animate 3D assets in the project as needed.
Responsibilities:- Create models, textures, and materials for 3D environment, prop, and character art assets
- Create basic rig for characters and props as needed
- Create basic 3D character animations as needed
- Create, revise, and iterate work based on concepts, feedback and revisions, and project knowledge gained during development
- Ensure that work is consistent with the defined visual style for the project
- Export assets from art tools and import them into Unity according to best practices
- Assist in the implementation of in-progress and completed assets in Unity
- Collaborate with (or act as) Project Owners to ensure tasking is meeting milestones, including providing accurate estimates, updates on progress, prioritizing key action steps, and notice of potential setbacks
- Collaborate with Owls cross-departmentally to meet task goals and determine art requirements
- Participate regularly in appropriate feedback cycles for other Art Owls and project teams
- Keep up to date on the latest in art practices for Unity and VR
- Ability to independently model and export game-ready 3D models and assets in Blender
- Experience with 2D software such as Photoshop
- Experience with Substance 3D (Painter and Designer)
- Ability to do basic rigging and animation in Blender
- Able to independently and simultaneously manage tasking of multiple projects or large deliverables that meet Owlchemy’s Best Practices
- Ability and willingness to learn and grow adjacent skills as they’re needed
Education and Experience:
- HS diploma or Equivalent
- 3+ years of experience creating 3D Art for video games
- Experience with Unity
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years relevant experience
- Appreciation of puns (or at least the ability to groan at them)
- Owls must be able to use virtual reality headsets but are not expected to own one.
This is a full-time, work from home, 40-hours per week position. Core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CT.
Travel:For Owls working outside of the Austin, TX area, travel to Austin may be required 4 to 6 times per year.
