The Photographer and Content Creator will be responsible for showcasing the Appleby College Summer Boarding experience. Reporting to the Manager, Business Development, and working with Seasonal Boarding Program Staff, the Photographer and Content Creator will capture and produce high-quality photos and reels of boarding participants on and off the Appleby Campus, with a varied schedule that includes evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will engage participants with care, enthusiasm and tact, making photo and video opportunities accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Appleby College’s Summer Programs welcome students from around the world with diverse languages and backgrounds. Students attend Appleby College to improve their English language skills and experience Canada. Appleby College Summer Boarding Programs are modeled after the Appleby College student experience, with a goal of providing summer students with a snapshot of life as an Appleby College student. Students will live in boarding, attend class or camp, participate in extracurricular activities, mid-week post‑secondary tours, and exciting off‑campus excursions.

Central Responsibilities

The central responsibility of this role is to capture photos for web galleries and future promotional use, and short videos/reels for Instagram in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends, primarily working outside traditional classroom hours.

  • Work closely with summer program staff to capture content for weekly web galleries and end‑of‑session slideshows.
  • Plan, create, edit, and post entertaining short video content across various platforms.
  • Collaborate and participate in program activities as needed to collect footage for promotional materials, including afternoon activities, evening events, and weekend excursions.
You’ll Be a Great Fit If You
  • Have 2-5 years of experience in photography and social video content creation.
  • Are currently enrolled in post‑secondary education, with a minimum completion of your second year.
  • Possess strong social video creation and editing skills.
  • Formal training and or education in Photography.
  • Can make sound judgments regarding content fit and engagement.
  • Have knowledge and experience with a digital SLR camera.
  • Are familiar with graphics and video‑editing software such as Lightroom, Premiere, Photoshop, Photodex, Pro Show, and online web galleries (e.g., Smug Mug)—all considered assets.
  • Work efficiently to consistently meet deadlines with quick turnaround times.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills, with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Thrive in team‑oriented, motivational, and creative environments, and can follow directions effectively.
Workplace Requirements and Conditions
  • Work Type: in‑person filming/photography at Appleby College and on excursions, editing can be remotely.

  • Successful candidates must attend pre‑program preparation meetings, including a required training session at Appleby campus before the program start date.
Work Schedule Training & Orientation
  • One day, specific date TBD between Monday, June 22, to Thursday, June 25, 2026.
Program Session Dates & Hours
  • Monday, June 22, to Friday, August 21, excluding holidays.
    • Weekdays:
      • 2–3 afternoons & evenings per week, including Fridays.
      • Off‑site excursions on Wednesdays or Thursdays.
    • Saturdays:
      All day excursions with limited exceptions.
    • Remote work available when not capturing content.
