Job Description & How to Apply Below

SE Group is seeking a Proposal Specialist to support our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with prior AEC consulting experience who enjoys creating persuasive, high-quality proposals for meaningful projects.

Our tagline is “Outside is Where We Thrive.” You’ll help our planners, landscape architects, and environmental analysts win projects like outdoor recreation economy studies, campground design, trail network plans, ski area plans, mountain town comprehensive plans, land use and zoning plans, forest health and wildfire resiliency studies, parks and open space plans, downhill mountain bike park development, recreation visitor use management plans, and more!

The Proposal Specialist plays a critical role in turning our expertise into compelling, competitive pursuits. You bring structure, clarity, and strategy to every proposal by helping distill technical ideas into clear, persuasive narratives that resonate with our clients. Your work directly influences what projects we win and ultimately, the impact we’re able to have on landscapes, communities, and outdoor experiences.

What You’ll Do

Sitting in the Business Development & Marketing team, this role will focus on developing competitive pursuits for our Public Lands, Communities, and Mountain Resort Market Areas.

  • Manage multiple concurrent pursuits, including schedules, task tracking (Asana), and final submittals
  • Perform detailed analysis of RFP/RFQ requirements including preparation of outlines, tailored checklists, instructions, compliance matrices, and templates; track amendments/clarifications
  • Facilitate meetings (Go/No-Go, proposal kickoff, strategy sessions) and keep pursuits on track
  • Gather and update resumes, project information, photos, and other content for proposals
  • Research project background and data to effectively inform proposal development
  • Leverage AI tools and software to streamline processes and improve deliverables
  • Manage pursuit data in the CRM
  • Manage proposal closeout tasks to maintain the CRM, ensuring proposals and pursuit materials are properly stored and current
  • Collaborate with the team to create compelling client presentations and lead interview coaching that secure project wins
  • Write custom-written content that speaks directly to the client's selection committee and sets us apart from the competition, showcasing SE Group’s strengths
  • Edit and proof the technical team’s proposal content for clarity, compliance, and persuasiveness
  • Develop graphics, layouts, and templates
  • Create well-designed, reader-friendly proposals in Adobe In Design
  • Provide clear communication and direction to keep proposal production on schedule
  • Review content for consistency with brand standards and proposal guidelines
  • Participate in debriefs and retrospectives to continuously improve our proposal development process
What We’re Looking For

Experience: 3-5 years in proposal development within the AEC industry (planning, architecture, engineering, environmental, or design) is preferred. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with an interdisciplinary technical team.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, planning, design, or related field—or equivalent relevant experience.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, CoPilot)
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign (intermediate level, with interest in growing to advanced)
  • Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator (preferred but not required)
  • Familiarity with task/project management tools (preferably Asana)
  • Familiarity with CRM and Digital Asset Management tools
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and make independent decisions
  • Team player who works well across different personalities and technical disciplines
  • Strong communicator who builds collaborative relationships
  • Enthusiastic about professional growth in proposal management

Location: We are a hybrid team with some team members working from our offices in Salt Lake City, Utah;
Golden, Colorado; and Burlington, Vermont, and others working from home. Preference given to candidates who are located near an office, but it’s not required.
