We are seeking a creative, organized, and detail-oriented Assistant Designer to join our Sweaters team. This role will support the design and development of trend-driven sweater collections for the Junior women's market, assisting throughout the product lifecycle from concept through production. The ideal candidate has a passion for knitwear, strong technical and organizational skills, and a keen eye for trends, color, and sweater construction.
Serving as a key support partner to the Design Director and broader design team, the Assistant Designer will provide both creative and administrative assistance throughout the development process. Acting as a flexible resource across the department, this individual will help manage day-to-day workload, support the Walmart business, and ensure seamless execution from concept through production. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and eager to grow within a fast-paced design environment.
Responsibilities- Support the Design Director and design team in the development and execution of seasonal sweater collections.
- Create and revise flat sketches, CADs, and presentation materials using Adobe Illustrator.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of tech packs, design packages, and PLM updates throughout the development process.
- Track samples, prototypes, and development submissions to ensure timely follow-up and organization.
- Organize and maintain seasonal design boards, inspiration materials, yarn libraries, and sample archives.
- Assist with yarn, stitch, trim, and color development under the guidance of senior design leadership.
- Conduct trend, market, and competitive research across the junior and young women's apparel market to identify emerging opportunities.
- Help prepare product review meetings, line presentations, and seasonal assortment reviews.
- Manage sample organization, checking over new development samples and making any necessary revisions.
- Assist with Walmart and customer-specific documentation, including tags, packaging, and required product information for selected styles.
- Ensure all design deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- 1–3 years of apparel design experience, preferably in sweaters, knitwear, or women's apparel.
- Understanding of sweater construction, yarns, gauges, stitches, and knit techniques preferred.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; knowledge of Photoshop is a plus.
- Familiarity with PLM systems and tech pack creation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and time management abilities.
- Passion for fashion, knitwear, and trend-driven product development.
- Experience working with Walmart, junior apparel, or young women's brands is a plus.
- Eagerness to learn and grow within a dynamic design environment.

4 days a week in the office, Fridays work from home.
Pay RateNew York Pay Rate $52,000 - $60,000.
