VP– Scripted Programming
Location:
Santa Monica, CA – Production Services team.
- Oversee development and current production of select scripted series.
- Determine creative strategy for projects and administer creative notes to show runners, writers, and producers on all outlines, scripts, and cuts of current series.
- Read and evaluate submissions for staffing, and approve recommendations from junior executives.
- View material for directors and approve recommendations from junior executives.
- Provide constructive creative feedback on all script drafts for projects in development, in conjunction with collective notes from the development team.
- Track, solicit, evaluate and procure scripted programming for development, including fielding pitches from producers and scouting potential IP (books, comics, etc.) to option and develop.
- Build and maintain relationships with talent (writers, producers, directors, actors, authors, filmmakers, playwrights).
- Identify and track creators and future show runners, and actively pursue business with them.
- Serve as primary liaison to other departments including Marketing, Press & Shareholder Relations, Research, and Business Affairs.
- Participate in senior level meetings with production and business affairs.
- Make decisions on key hires for development and production.
- Manage junior and administrative-level executives, mentoring and guiding the department.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 10–15 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to maintain productive relationships with industry contacts, including agents, studios, writers, and production companies.
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
- Fiscal responsibility.
- Thoughtful, persuasive, and charismatic.
- Highly creative.
- Ability to work well in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Good knowledge of television, literature, and film.
Preferred:
- Thorough knowledge of marketing tactics, media research, and the interactive marketplace.
Base compensation: $175,000 – $200,000, commensurate with experience.
