Adapt is looking for a Editorial Lead for English and Regional Languages. This position is ideal for individuals who can support the creation, editing, quality control, and delivery of localization assets across multiple content types and formats.
This role is a critical part of the content localization workflow, ensuring content is accurately prepared for localization, accessibility, and distribution across global platforms while meeting client requirements and Adapt's high-quality standards. The successful candidate will work on subtitles, closed captions, dialogue lists, English master templates, and conformance projects, supporting the delivery of high-quality media localization services for global and regional content.
Key Responsibilities
As a Editorial Lead, you will:
- Create, edit, proofread, and quality-check subtitles for English and regional language content.
- Create and edit Closed Captions (CC) and Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (SDH) according to client and industry standards.
- Prepare and maintain accurate Dialogue Lists and English Master Templates for localization and dubbing workflows.
- Perform Simple and Complex Conformance tasks to ensure subtitle and script files are accurately synchronized with revised video edits and updated timelines.
- Review subtitle files for timing, segmentation, readability, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency.
- Conduct audio fidelity checks to ensure subtitles and captions accurately reflect spoken dialogue and audio cues
- Create accurate speaker identification, sound effect descriptions, and accessibility metadata where required.
- Identify and document names, terminology, cultural references, on-screen text, and adaptation-sensitive elements.
- Support localization teams by providing contextual notes for accurate multilingual adaptation.
- Follow client-specific style guides, workflows, and quality standards.
- Perform detailed quality control checks before final delivery.
- Use Adapt-approved tools and platforms (including Ooona) for subtitle and localization workflows.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure timely task tracking and updates.
- Escalate technical, editorial, or workflow-related issues that may impact delivery or quality.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Editorial Leads, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Contribute feedback for process improvement and workflow optimization.
- Maintain confidentiality of client content and project information at all times.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with the Ooona Platform (Mandatory)
- Proven experience in subtitling and localization workflows
- Experience creating Dialogue Lists and English Master Templates
- Knowledge of Closed Captioning (CC/SDH) standards
- Experience in Simple and Complex Conformance projects
- Strong English communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Immediate availability preferred
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience in Subtitling, Subtitle Editing, Localization, Closed Captioning, or related editorial roles.
- Experience working on film, television, streaming, or digital media localization projects.
- Strong proficiency in the Ooona Platform and subtitle production tools.
- Understanding of subtitle timing, segmentation, reading speed, and formatting standards.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards for CC and SDH workflows.
- Excellent command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and editorial accuracy.
- Knowledge of one or more regional Indian languages is a plus.
- Strong listening skills with the ability to understand multiple accents.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality focus.
- Strong research and fact-checking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Graduate degree required; preferred fields include English, Linguistics, Translation, Journalism, Media Studies, or related disciplines.
- Familiarity with content localization workflows and global media delivery processes.
- Experience in dubbing workflows is an advantage.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a remote environment.
- Interest in AI-assisted localization tools and workflows is a plus.
- Home office setup with stable internet connectivity required.
