Wellesley College is recruiting a social media manager to oversee the College’s social media presence as a member of the storytelling team in the Communications and Public Affairs office. This role blends strategy, hands‑on content creation—with a focus on short‑form video and visual storytelling—editorial judgement, and analytics. Working with the director of editorial and social media, the senior writer, and a team of student storytellers, the social media manager will oversee the College’s social channels and help develop platform‑specific stories that reflect the College’s voice, brand, and institutional priorities.
The role helps connect the College with prospective students, current students, alumnae, faculty, and community members. The role will also collaborate with colleagues in the Wellesley College Alumnae Association and Wellesley magazine to provide support for their social presence. The person in this role will monitor engagement and conversation on the College’s platforms, and respond to comments and questions as needed.
They will report regularly on social media analytics, help identify industry trends, and maintain and coordinate the social media editorial calendar. They will make sure that social content is accessibility compliant. This position reports to the director of editorial and social media.
- Develop engaging, platform‑specific stories (Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, You Tube) that promote Wellesley student life and educational experience, alumnae success, faculty research and other College priorities.
- Track and analyze social media metrics to help shape strategy and optimize engagement.
- Work with counterpart in WCAA and Wellesley magazine to support their social presence.
- Engage with and respond to inquiries/comments on various social platforms in a timely manner.
- Monitor social media conversations, address and report complaints, insensitive content, copyright infringements, negative press, etc.
- Stay current on social media trends.
- Follow best practices for accessibility compliance.
- Serve as a strategic partner to campus partners.
- Manage student workers.
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years experience developing platform‑specific stories and managing social media accounts.
- Excited by social media storytelling.
- Ability to create engaging social media content using photos, videos, and graphics.
- Ability to analyze key performance metrics and report on social media analytics.
- Excellent knowledge of social media trends and best practices.
- Working knowledge of a variety of creative applications, including Photoshop, Canva, and Cap Cut.
- Strong writing and editing skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies including various College departments, students, and faculty.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent understanding of and appreciation for the College’s mission.
We value a collaborative hybrid environment. Our standard schedule includes three days on campus to connect with the team, with two days of remote work.

This hybrid schedule is subject to business needs. As this role involves essential in‑person commitments, a degree of flexibility is required.
The pay range for this role is $68,000.00 - $77,000.00.
