Abdul for Senate is seeking talented candidates to work as a Rapid Response Manager for the 2026 election cycle. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to our mission of electing Abdul El-Sayed our next U.S. Senator.

Role Overview:

The Rapid Response Manager is responsible for tracking breaking news and developing rapid response communications in close collaboration with the Communications Director. This will be a full time position based in Ann Arbor, MI, although there is flexibility with remote work and a relocation timeline. This position offers compensation in the form of a monthly salary and healthcare benefits.

Responsibilities:

Draft written work (e.g. statements, social media copy) on tight deadlines

Monitor news outlets, new media platforms, and social media channels

Track federal and statewide political developments

Provide real-time updates to key staff during breaking news events

Internalize campaign core message and candidate voice

Collaborate closely with Communications and Digital departments

Other campaign needs as required

Qualifications (Required):

Excellent understanding of political media landscape, news cycle, and online environments

Ability to operate at a high level under tight deadlines and stressful situations

Experience producing high-quality public-facing written materials

A minimum of 1 year of work experience in campaigns, government, communications, or a similar field required

Must have transportation to attend events as needed

Proficiency with Excel and Google Drive

Willingness to work irregular hours including some nights and weekends.

Superior written and verbal communication skills

Ability to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a desire to learn and a willingness to ask questions

Ability to balance between competing priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment while maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail

Commitment to electing Abdul El-Sayed to the U.S. Senate

Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant and productive ways

Personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross-cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability

Qualifications (Preferred):

Media relations or journalism background is a plus

Social media management background is a plus

Existing relationships with journalists, political organizations, or labor is a plus

Previous experience working in Michigan is a significant plus
