Product Writer And Reviewer
WIRED is seeking a product writer and reviewer to test, review, and write about consumer technology products. A writer in this role will focus on products across a range of categories that will be assigned based on the candidate's experience. Possible categories including computing/mobile devices, audio/video hardware, smart-home devices, outdoor gear, and desktop and mobile software.
Responsibilities:
- The product writer will write a mix of reviews, buying guides, how tos, deals roundups, and features. They will also pitch ideas for upcoming content. The ideal candidate will be a conversational writer who's confident and careful when reviewing products and can describe the pros and cons of any given item with conviction. Content should be resonant with WIRED's voice.
- Write, edit, and/or refresh 3-4 pieces of 900+ word content per week: A mix of full-length reviews, buying guides, gift guides, news/feature articles, and deals coverage
- Research to ensure that product choices are on trend and on brand
- Provide valuable reader service by making useful buying recommendations
- Pitch new content each week, request new products for review, and thoroughly test products
- Apply SEO and commerce linking best practices to written content
- Organize and manage your own time efficiently, take initiative, and communicate effectively
This is also a full-time telecommute position. It is also an interdepartmental role. You would be a member of WIRED's editorial reviews team and also a member of Conde Nast's Commerce department. Experience writing and/or editing consumer-focused product reviews and guides is needed, as is a love for personal technology and a desire to help readers find the best products (and make the most of them).
