We’re looking for a Producer to join our Special Features team, where we create highly produced, long-form documentary stories that explore fascinating business topics. Past examples include What Really Killed Kodak?, Disney’s Acquisition of Pixar, Are the Olympics Worth It?, and The Cola Wars. Our Special Features are our most ambitious, highest impact, and most listened-to podcast episodes on our platform.
As a Special Features Producer, with the help of the production team, you’ll drive the pipeline from pitching to interviewing guests to scripting and voicing.
- Episode Development:
Work with the editorial team to research and pitch story ideas; identify the right angle, scope, and narrative arc for each episode; identify and enable learning outcomes (e.g., capital allocation, investment strategy, M&A, fraud); collaborate with the Associate Producer to research and find guests for each episode. - Podcast Production:
Conduct interviews with industry experts and guests, host and voice episodes, integrate interview tape and scripting for clarity and impact, incorporate editorial feedback on outlines and scripts, and work with Audio Engineers to uphold production quality and sound design. - Tools and collaboration:
Familiarity with production tools such as Descript and remote recording platforms is considered an asset.
- You have 3–5 years of experience: demonstrated experience in long-form, narrative podcasting or documentary-style storytelling. Experience in producing audio, including pitching, gathering tape, interviewing guests, hosting, editing interviews for content, and working with audio engineers on sound design.
- You are curious: you enjoy digging deep to understand the full picture and can integrate complex topics (financial or strategic business concepts) into a narrative.
- You are a skilled storyteller: ability to write and craft complex narrative-style documentaries, from outlining to scripting, weaving story and information into a compelling narrative.
- You are organized: manage multiple in-production episodes with many moving parts, balance projects, meet deadlines, and communicate progress clearly.
- You are a team player: collaborative, able to incorporate editorial feedback; experience working with audio engineers to shape impact is a plus.
- Familiarity with production tools such as Descript and remote recording platforms is considered an asset.
