Editorial Manager; Volunteer​/Remote

We are looking for volunteers to assist with editorial duties. This is an unpaid volunteer position requiring at least 15 hours per week for 12 months. Volunteers will work virtually.

• Designate assignments to Editorial Coordinators and be a resource for them.
• Review all content before it goes out.
• Use word processing and text management systems to edit and prepare copy for manuscripts and presentations.
• Edit publications according to specifications for style, tone, and length, ensuring correct use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• Assist writers with selecting and finalizing artwork, photography, and text for reproduction.
• Ensure articles, manuals, proposals, and other publications meet style, formatting, and general quality standards.
• Ensure publications are completed on time and within applicable budget constraints.
• Examine physical proofs of printed materials.
• Confirm that publications meet customer specifications.
• Maintain current knowledge of developments and trends in the area of content specialty.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Be available to volunteer 15+ hours per week for 12+ months.
• Excellent leadership, writing, editing, verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with text management and desktop publishing software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, or similar software.
• Previous management or supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or related field preferred.
• Five years of editing experience required.
