Position Overview
Graphic Designer & Multimedia Specialist for the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS). The position coordinates with staff, state agencies, vendors, and offices to develop and manage graphic design and multimedia assets that support department initiatives.
Weekly hybrid arrangements: minimum 2 days in office, maximum 3 days remote.
Responsibilities- Conceptualize creative designs, graphics, and visuals based on project requirements.
- Create and manage content for department communications.
- Ensure department adherence to state branding guidelines.
- Recommend layouts and formats for artwork and photography.
- Format creative files to audience and outlet specifications.
- Complete projects to high standards and on schedule.
- Develop and maintain CDHS brand guidelines and master templates for presentations, letterheads, flyers, posters, memos, etc.
- Design departmental year‑end reports.
- Provide design support and organize presentations for the Joint Budget Committee.
- Assist CDHS staff during the legislative session with informational materials, presentations, handouts, reports, and other assets.
- Develop, create, and manage a range of content for the department, including social media posts, web content, presentations, broadcast media, print, videography, and photography.
- Manage scheduling, posting, and monitoring of social media placements.
- Provide reporting on social media performance and suggest optimizations.
- Engage in occasional photography and videography, including editing, and develop storyboards, talking points, and scripts.
- Attend and participate in team and project meetings.
- Provide support to the communications team.
- Six (6) years of relevant experience in graphic design, multimedia design, or content creation.
- OR a combination of related education (e.g., Arts, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Multimedia, Industrial Design, Media, Videography, Photography, Film & Television, Mass Communications, Digital Design) and experience equal to six (6) years.
- Proficiency with Adobe Suite (and Canva).
- Experience with social media content development and management.
- Relevant state service years considered under the COWINS Partnership Agreement and transfer weighting.
- State of Colorado residency required at time of application and throughout employment.
- Occasional state travel may be required.
