** POSITION SPECIFICS
** The Penn State School of Theatre in the College of Arts & Architecture invites applications for a one year full-time Non-Tenure Line Lecturer in Dance, for the nationally renowned BFA Musical Theatre Program. The position will work with the Head of the Musical Theatre Program and the Musical Theatre faculty to continue to build on the Program’s many strengths in training for the musical theatre artist.

The anticipated start date for this 36-week faculty appointment is August 17, 2026. University benefits apply.

Teaching responsibilities include beginning tap, advanced tap, and Musical Theatre jazz dance class. A choreography assignment on a musical is also anticipated. Additional faculty responsibilities include participation in student recruitment. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable of current and evolving styles and techniques in the field.

* Required Qualifications:

*** A master’s degree or equivalent in professional experience as a choreographer/dancer.
* Significant professional experience in dance, performance and teaching or choreography.
* The ability to effectively teach and mentor students with a wide range of technical abilities, physical capabilities, and prior dance training.
* The ability to differentiate instruction, support individual learning needs, and cultivate an environment where all students can develop technical proficiency, creative expression, and professional readiness.
* Evidence of working collectively to cultivate a culture that supports success and enables all members of a college community to thrive.
* A comprehensive knowledge of the musical theatre repertoire.

The Musical Theatre faculty is made up of artists dedicated to both the profession and the academy, and who bring our students Broadway, national tour, regional theatre, and film and television experience. The program offers signature initiatives including a New Musicals Initiative that commissions musical theatre writers from New York each year, a Master Class Series that connects students with professionals while they are still in training, and a Wellness Center in the areas of Mental, Physical, Vocal, and Nutritional Health.
