Are you obsessed with You Tube storytelling, audience retention, and what makes someone click?

Do you analyze thumbnails and titles, study why videos perform, and constantly think about stronger hooks, better jokes, and more engaging stories?

The Spy Ninjas Animation Team is looking for a You Tube Writer who understands how to create content specifically for a You Tube audience—not traditional film, television, or commercial media.

You’ll work closely with our creative and animation teams to develop highly engaging animated videos for a massive global audience. This role requires more than strong writing. We’re looking for someone who understands the complete You Tube package: the idea, thumbnail, title, opening hook, story structure, pacing, and payoff.

This is a 100% remote position. Candidates located in Nevada, Texas, Colorado, or Ohio are preferred.

• Develop You Tube-first video concepts, storylines, and episode formats
• Write engaging scripts designed to hold viewers’ attention
• Create strong opening hooks that immediately establish curiosity and stakes
• Pitch compelling titles and thumbnail concepts that make people want to click
• Build stories with strong pacing, comedy, escalation, and satisfying payoffs
• Collaborate with the animation and creative teams throughout production
• Review storyboards, animatics, and edits to provide feedback on pacing, clarity, humor, and retention
• Use audience behavior and video performance to improve future content
• Stay current on You Tube trends, formats, platform changes, and audience preferences
• Continuously identify ways to improve click-through rate, watch time, and viewer engagement

Requirements

• Strong experience writing for You Tube or other audience-driven digital content
• A strong understanding of You Tube storytelling, pacing, hooks, and viewer retention
• The ability to develop clickable video concepts, titles, and thumbnail direction
• Strong comedic instincts and an understanding of character-driven storytelling
• The ability to turn a broad creative idea into a clear, engaging script
• Strong creative problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• The ability to take feedback and revise quickly
• Comfortable working remotely in a fast-moving production environment

• Experience writing for established You Tube channels
• Experience with You Tube content designed for children, families, or a global audience
• Understanding of thumbnails, click-through rate, audience retention, and watch-time strategy
• Experience working with animation pipelines or animated content
• Familiarity with serialized storytelling, recurring characters, or ongoing story worlds
• Experience reviewing analytics and applying performance insights to future content

We are specifically looking for candidates who understand content created for You Tube audiences. Traditional film or television writing experience alone may not be enough for this role.
