Pay Range
Pay Range $1,483.20 - $1,751 per credit hour
Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description
The Department of Drama within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-time Instructor to teach DRA 441 Ballet IV, a two credit hour course, during the Spring semester, 2027.
The Department of Drama seeks an instructor to teach an advanced-level ballet technique course tailored to musical theater performers. The successful candidate will bring strong technical command of classical ballet along with the artistry needed to guide students toward performance-ready stylistic execution.

Qualifications
- BFA or equivalent professional experience in dance preferred with 5 plus years of experience in ballet.
- Teaching a the collegiate or equivalent level preferred.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency and professional/performance experience in classical ballet
- Experience applying ballet technique within a musical theater context preferred
- Prior teaching experience at the advanced or pre-professional level preferred
- Excellent communication and mentorship skills in a studio setting
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver curriculum at an advanced technical level, including complex combinations, turns, and grand allegro
- Guide students in refining stylistic elements and performance quality appropriate to musical theater contexts
- Provide individualized technical correction and artistic coaching
- Assess student progress in technique, musicality, and performance presentation
- Collaborate with Drama faculty to ensure alignment with the broader dance curriculum sequence.
- Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
- Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
- Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
- Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
