Join Optum as a Customer Service Representative and provide AI‑powered advice and support to patients remotely.

This is a National Remote position. You can telecommute from anywhere within the U.S. The role is full time Monday‑Friday, with flexible 8‑hour shift schedules between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm EST. A 4‑week paid training period will be completed during 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST, Monday‑Friday.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Answer a high volume of calls from patients or their representatives.
  • Perform scheduling, re‑rescheduling, and cancellation of patient appointments.
  • Ask appropriate questions and listen actively to identify specific questions or issues while documenting required information in computer systems.
  • Contact care providers (doctor’s offices) on behalf of the customer to assist with appointment scheduling or connections with internal specialists when needed.
  • Maintain all compliance and HIPAA regulations at all times.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 1+ years of experience in a healthcare call center or office setting, analyzing and solving customer problems.
  • Familiarity with computer and Windows PC applications, including the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications.
  • Ability to work any 8‑hour shift within standard business hours of 7:00 am to 7:00 pm EST, Monday through Friday.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Medical terminology experience.
  • Proficiency in translating health‑care‑related jargon and complex processes into simple, step‑by‑step instructions customers can understand and act upon.
Telecommuting Requirements
  • Keep all company sensitive documents secure.
  • Maintain a dedicated, private work area separated from living areas.
  • Live in a location that can receive a high‑speed internet connection approved by United Health Group.
  • Adhere to United Health Group’s Telecommuter Policy.
Compensation

The hourly pay for this role ranges from $16.00 to $27.69 per hour based on full‑time employment. In addition to salary, benefits include a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401(k) contribution (subject to eligibility).
